NIELS COLOV was born in Hellerup, Copenhagen, Denmark on 25th July 1948. In Denmark he was the owner of a film company, distributing feature films for cinemas and video and was the owner of a multi screen cinema in the heart of Copenhagen.    
He has lived with his wife Khun Laddawan for 18 years and they have 3 sons Bjom (17), Rolf (16) and Niels Jr. (14). Niels Colov came to Thailand 27 years ago and is the proprietor of the Pattaya People Media Group (Television, Newspaper, Radio, Websites, Magazines and other media) and many other businesses here in Pattaya. Ever since his arrival in Pattaya he has actively been involved in community activities supporting charities and positive development of this great city. In May 1988 he joined the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya and was elected its third president (1989-90). During that year a point system graduation made the Rotary Club of Jomtien- Pattaya become the highest scoring Rotary Club in Thailand and out of about 25,000 other clubs, among the 10 best in the world. After 15 years of 100% attendance membership he moved in 2003 to the Thai Speaking Rotary Club of Pattaya "The Mother Club of Rotary in Pattaya" and served as its president from 2006 to 2007. On "World Peace Day" 23rd February 2006 he was instrumental in making Pattaya the first "Rotary International Peace City" in Thailand and on that day the peace monument was inaugurated on the Phratamnak Hill opposite the entrance to the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya. This year he celebrates his 20th anniversary in Rotary. Niels Colov is a member of many clubs and associations. He is the president of Pattaya Expats Club with about 3,500 members (the biggest foreigner forum in Thailand). Other memberships include: PBTA Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, UPE Union of Pattaya Entrepreneurs, Charter member of the Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Foreign Correspondents Club, United States Navy League, Chonburi Chamber of Commerce, Vegetarian Club of Pattaya, Law Enforcement Investigation Organization, SKAL International Pattaya and East Thailand, The Eastern Mass Media Association, Pattaya Sport Club, Chaine des Rotisseurs Bailliage de Thailande, and many other clubs.
Niels Colov is the project leader of FPV Foreign Police Volunteers in Pattaya with about 90 members (many of them with police/law enforcement or military backgrounds from their home country) from 20 different countries.

ROTARY CLUB OF PATTAYA
 
 
The Rotary Club of Pattaya was founded on 5. August 1972 and was Chartered on 19. November 1972. Club code number 16290, Zone 6 in R.I. District 3340. We have presently 46 members from 15 different nationalities. We are happy to welcome any visiting Rotarians to the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Pattaya, the "Mother Club" of Rotary in Pattaya. Our club conducts the weekly meetings bi-lingual in English and Thai language. We meet every Monday at 19.00 at "Town-in-Town Hotel" on Pattaya Central Road. The meeting includes a hot and cold buffet dinner. The dinner ticket is 200 baht for visitors. Our President for year 2006/07 is Niels Colov. He is the owner of Dragon Enterprises Co. Ltd. Publisher of “Pattaya People Weekly”, the leading Pattaya newspaper as well as the “Pattaya People Channel” a 24 hour TV channel with news and information about Pattaya. He also has various other business interests in Pattaya. Although he originates from Copenhagen, Denmark, President Niels has been a resident of Pattaya for over 25 years. He was inducted as a member of Rotary in May 1988 and has held many positions since then including Presidency of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya in 1989-90. Rotary in Thailand was established in 1930 with the charter of the Rotary Club of Bangkok. There are 4 districts in Thailand, 3330, 3350, 3360 and our district 3340. There are a total of 290 Rotary clubs in Thailand with (Figures as of July 2006) 6934 Rotarians. We have 63 clubs in our district with a total of 1264 Rotarians.
